At the end of May amidst the COVID19 social distancing we welcome the arrivals of the “Weather litter” (I have never before had a themed litter, but with a father called Breeze and a mum called Frost – it has to be done!)
This has been a litter which has been a long time in the planning, nearly 2 years, and we are extremely grateful to Leila for allowing her precious Viima (Multi Ch Cantavia Liekinloimu) to visit the UK on a joint venture for Sam (Morval Finnish Lapphunds) and I. Viima has a super pedigree, excellent health results and a very impressive show career, he came to my attention first through his sire who I admired – but sadly as a PRA carrier would not suit Halla, then I realised that Kaamos had mated Vuokko a bitch I had spotted and admired when she competed against Matka on his trip to Finland back in 2014. Quite ironic that the 2014 trip should see the conception of Halla and now some 6 year later she has puppies from Vuokko’s son.
This litter would not have been possible not only without the help and generosity of Leila, but also of Viima’s breeder, Petra Palukka, along with my dear friend, Nina Lahin, and of course Sam & family, for hosting Viima. Have to say Viima’s nature is superb, settling well with Sam, traveling with us to Crufts, and staying here with us too, a real sweetie, who loves to cuddle. We will certainly miss him when the travel restrictions are lifted and he returns to Finland. He might spot the temperature change from 25C Surrey to Northern Finland!
The new arrivals: the family comprises four bitches and two dogs, at first reckoning it looking like at least 2 of the girls are wolf sables like mum, along with one of the dogs, the others are looking to be tricolours, with some very bright markings on some at birth.
