The Southern Finnish Lapphund Society hosts the Finnish Lapphund of the Year competition, which is open by invitation to the top winning dogs & bitches from the previous two years (Best of sex and res Best of sex winners at the major shows), we had qualified a number of dogs but only 4 were present, Pelinainen, Suvituuli, Matkamies and Lecibsin Ukas to Elbereth. Unfortunately Suvituuli and Pelinainen were drawn against each other in the first round with Peli going through, though in the next round she was drawn against Ukas, and he went through to the final. Matkamies also went through to the final, which was a three way competition between Ukas, Matkamies and Oberitz Trolleri.
The judge Val Dyer JP selected Lecibsin Ukas to Elbereth as SFLS 2017 Dog of the Year (handled as usual by Sam Moore)
